Abundant wastewater discharges from palm oil industries in tropical nations being a valuable resource of biodiesel need proper exploration. Research hinted that such wastewater as economical nutrient source or substrate can support the cultivation of microalgae. In this experiment, we have tested the growth and lipid production of five different microalgal strains in palm oil mill effluent (POME). POME as a biofuel substrate is demonstrated to be lucrative for microalgae-assisted lipids production. POME is rich in macro- and micronutrients can be used as a growth medium for algal growth in order to reduce the growth medium cost and environmental pollutions. Among the five microalgal strains tested, Chlorella sorokiniana revealed optimum biomass and lipid production. The productivity was evaluated in terms of chlorophyll content, growth rate, biomass, and lipid content, which discerned to be 0.099/day, 8.0 mg/L day and 2.68 mg/mg cell dry weight (CDW). Furthermore, in this study, an optimization study was carried out to enhance the microalgae to produce high lipid content using carbon-to-nitrogen ratio and different light/dark periods. The presence of nitrogen combined glucose (with a carbon-to-nitrogen ratio 100:7) as an alternative source to carbon displayed higher lipid production of 2.68 (mg/mg CDW) by C. sorokiniana. This study confirms that 8:16 h light/dark condition at C:TN ratio of 100:7 supported to produce high lipid content of 17 mg lipid/mg CDW. The above results revealed that POME could be a suitable growth media for the alga C. sorokiniana to improve the maximum lipid yield for biofuels production.  相似文献

The aim of this study is to provide an efficient way to segment the malignant melanoma images. This method first eliminates extra hair and scales using edge detection; afterward, it deduces a color image into an intensity image and approximately segments the image by intensity thresholding. Some morphological operations are used to focus on an image area where a melanoma boundary potentially exists and then used to localize the boundary in that area. The distributions of texture and a new feature known as AIBQ features in the next step provide a good discrimination of skin lesions to feature extraction. Finally, we rely on quantitative image analysis to measure a series of candidate attributes hoped to contain enough information to differentiate malignant from benign melanomas. The selected features are applied to a support vector machine to classify the melanomas as malignant or benign. By our approach, we obtained 95 % correct classification of malignant or benign melanoma on real melanoma images.  相似文献

The support vector machine (SVM) has been a dominant machine-learning technique in the last decade and has demonstrated its efficiency in many applications. Research on classification of hyperspectral images have shown the efficiency of this method to overcome the Hughes phenomenon for classification of such images. A major drawback of classification by SVM is that this classifier was originally developed to solve binary problems, and the algorithms for multiclass problems usually have a high-computational load. In this article, a new and fast method for multiclass problems is proposed. This method has two stages. In the first stage, samples are classified by a maximum likelihood (ML) classifier, and in the second stage, SVM selects the final label of a sample among high-probability classes for that sample by a tree structure. So, for each sample, only some classes must be searched by SVM to find its label. The uncertainty of ML classification for a sample is obtained by the entropy of probabilities, and the number of classes that must be searched by SVM for a sample is obtained based on the uncertainty of that sample in the primary ML classification. This approach is compared with two widely used multiclass algorithms: one-against-one (OAO) and directed acyclic graph (DAGSVM). The obtained results on real data from the Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (AVIRIS) revealed less computational time and better accuracy compared to these multiclass algorithms.  相似文献

Full potential density functional theory (DFT) calculations have been performed for the MgB2 superconductor. Results show that applying positive (negative) pressure leads to a decrement (increment) in the DOS at the Fermi level that this calculations suggest a decrement in Tc under application of positive pressure. In the Γ-A path of momentum space, the band which has the dominant role in conduction properties, moves upward when c increases or a decreases, and moves downward when c decreases or a increases. By relaxation of the system under the plane strain, we have studied the behavior of axial lattice parameter c. Our results show that changes in the axial lattice constant c is one third of the changes of planar lattice constant a. It has been seen that by applying small in-plane strain (tensile), DOS at the Fermi level increases, but it decreases for higher applied strain. For the negative in-plane strain (compression), DOS decreases monotonically at the Fermi level. It can be seen that tension makes the electronic bands to move downward in the Γ-A direction of the reciprocal lattice, but by compression, they move upward. Based on these results, it can be concluded that by applying small tension, one can enhance Tc in MgB2 compound.  相似文献

The Coulomb barrier is in general much higher than thermal energy. Nuclear fusion reactions occur only among few protons and nuclei (i.e., deuterium and tritium) with higher relative energies than Coulomb barrier. It is the equilibrium velocity distribution of these high-energy protons and nuclei that participates in determining the rate of nuclear fusion reactions. In the circumstance it is inappropriate to use the Maxwellian velocity distribution for calculating the nuclear fusion reaction rate. We use the relativistic equilibrium has a reduction factor with respect to that based on the Maxwellian distribution, which factor depends on the temperature, reduced mass and atomic numbers of the studied nuclear fusion reactions. In this paper, we concluded at energy range 105 (keV) ≤ E ≤ 106 (keV), that is smaller than reduced mass energy of deuterium–tritium, m r c 2, the numerical values of R and R M are not different from each other very much, but by increasing energy near the region of m r c 2 the difference between them are visible, also by increasing energy for example 9 × 106 (keV) ≤ E ≤ 10 × 106 (keV) the difference is obviously more visible. Therefore, we have to use relativistic equilibrium velocity distribution instead of Maxwellian velocity distribution.  相似文献

Polyvinylchloride-blend-styrene butadiene rubber based nanocomposite cation exchange membranes were prepared by solution casting technique. Iron-oxide nanoparticles and Ag-nanolayer were simultaneously utilized as filler and surface modifier in membrane fabrication. The effects of Ag-nanolayer film thickness on membrane physicochemical and antibacterial characteristics of nanocomposite PVC-blend-SBR/Iron-oxide nanoparticles were studied. SEM images showed membrane roughness decreasing by Ag nanolayer thickness increasing. Membrane charge density and selectivity declined by Ag nanolayer coating up to 5 nm in membranes and then showed increasing trend by more nanolayer thickness. Ionic flux also showed increasing trend. Membranes showed good ability in E-Coli removal. 20 nm Ag-nanolayer coated membrane showed better performance compared to others.  相似文献

A new binary multilevel voltage source inverter with separate DC sources is proposed. This n-level voltage source inverter produces a (2 n+1-1)-steps AC voltage output with n full bridge inverters connected in series. The use of selective harmonic elimination modulation technique to either completely eliminate or minimize harmonics is studied. A closed-loop controller to control the capacitor voltages and adjust the inverter reactive power output is developed. Application of such a compensator for dynamic compensation of 13.8 kV distribution system is examined through transient studies using a PSCAD/EMTDC program. The proposed inverter configuration not only reduces the system complexity and its size, but also improves the harmonic profile significantly  相似文献

Cell formation problem is the main issue in designing cellular manufacturing systems. The most important objective in the cell formation problem is to minimize the number of exceptional elements which helps to reduce the number of intercellular movements. Another important but rarely used objective function is to minimize the number of voids inside of the machine cells. This objective function is considered in order to increase the utilization of the machines. We present a bi-objective mathematical model to simultaneously minimize the number of exceptional elements and the number of voids in the part machine incidence matrix. An ε-constraint method is then applied to solve the model and to generate the efficient solutions. Because of the NP-hardness of the model, the optimal algorithms can not be used in large-scale problems and therefore, we have also developed a bi-objective genetic algorithm. Some numerical examples are considered to illustrate the performance of the model and the effectiveness of the solution algorithms. The results demonstrate that in comparison with the ε-constraint method, the proposed genetic algorithm can obtain efficient solution in a reasonable run time.  相似文献

Alginate is an interesting natural biopolymer for many of its merits and good biological properties. This paper investigates the electrospinning of sodium alginate (NaAlg), NaAlg/PVA‐ and NaAlg/PEO‐ blended systems. It was found in this research that although NaAlg can easily be dissolved in water, the aqueous NaAlg solution could not be electrospun into ultrafine nanofibers. To overcome the poor electrospinnability of NaAlg solution, synthetic polymers such as PEO and PVA solutions were blended with NaAlg solution to improve its spinnability. The SEM images of electrospun nanofibers showed that the alginate (2%, w/v)–PVA (8%, w/v) blended system in the volume ratio of 70 : 30 and the alginate (2%, w/v)–PEO (8% w/v) blended system in the volume ratio of 50 : 50 could be electrospun into finest and uniform nanofibers with average diameters of 118.3 nm (diameter distribution, 75.8–204 nm) and 99.1 nm (diameter distribution, 71–122 nm), respectively. Rheological studies showed a strong dependence of spinnability and fiber morphology on solution viscosity and thus on the alginate‐to‐synthetic polymer (PVA or PEO) blend ratios. FTIR studies indicate that there are the hydrogen bonding interactions due to the ether oxygen of PEO (or the hydroxyl groups of PVA) and the hydroxyl groups of NaAlg. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Electropolymerization of polyaniline (PANI) and polyaniline‐tungstate (PANIW) coatings on mild steel were successfully performed using cyclic voltammetry technique. Processes were carried out in aqueous electrolyte solutions of 0.3 M oxalic acid + 0.1 M aniline and 0.3 M oxalic acid + 0.1 M aniline + 0.001 M sodium tungstate dehydrate. Corrosion protection of PANI and PANIW coatings was evaluated with the help of open circuit potential (Eocp) monitoring and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) methods. All the results reveal the influence of additional doping agent (i.e., tungstate) in corrosion protection behavior of PANI coating.  相似文献
